Transforming City Neighborhoods: A Framework for Faith-Based Social Enterprise Beene
Urban faith communities and churches have an incredible opportunity to play in pioneering business models that are scalable, have measurable results, are built upon strong biblical foundations and can spur community and economic development for the neighborhoods we love.
Come and spend a morning with Justin Beene and gain a better understanding of the global trends that are currently affecting local ministries, insights on how social enterprises can address many of our city’s most intractable issues and some of the best practices in merging business with ministry.
As the director and founder of the Grand Rapids Center for Community Transformation, Justin leads a truly unique enterprise. The Center is a collective of non-profit programs, two social enterprises, a for-profit company and a church, which are all partnering uniquely to create opportunities for community transformation for the neighborhood Justin and his family love.
Justin holds degrees in social work, management and leadership from Western Michigan University, the University of Michigan and Grand Rapids Theological Seminary. He received his doctorate in Transformational Leadership with a focus in Entrepreneurial Transformation from Bakke Graduate University. He, his wife and two children live in Grand Rapids.
