Second-annual event gathers hundreds of volunteers and neighbors for impact
Community, collaboration and celebration defined the second-annual Rally CLE event on September 12!
BHITC worked closely with 10 resident leaders to support their vision for community renewal in the Clark-Fulton and Stockyards neighborhoods. The community dynamically came together to make it happen!
In late July, 10 residents submitted projects for BHITC-funded grants of up to $2,000. BHITC then collaborated with the resident leaders to refi ne their plans, compile budget and material lists and support their efforts within the neighborhood. Projects included three community garden installs, two murals, two block party celebrations and three community cleanup efforts.
During the morning rally prior to the day’s projects, several residents shared about their experience with Rally CLE and their hopes for the future of their community – some of whom had long given up on that type of hope. It was powerful to see and hear just how much an event like Rally CLE restored their own personal dreams and reminded them of God’s heart for their neighborhood!
As BHITC continues to invest in the Clark-Fulton and Stockyards community through relationships, it’s clear the residents love their neighbors and neighborhood in deeply personal ways. In fact, 35 residents showed up to support just one of the projects that day! In total, nearly 400 volunteers participated between the church sponsors, community partners and residents, with everyone involved reminded of just how GOOD it is to rally together! This community and its leaders surely possess the resiliency, creativity and spirit to see God’s light and love made tangible even during difficult times.
Thank you to the 10 churches who sponsored the grants and provided volunteers.
