As Christ followers, people were never meant to face the challenges of life alone. In Acts 2, Paul tells us of the fellowship between believers of that day. “All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.”

To flourish fully as God intends, residents of Cleveland’s Clark-Fulton and Stockyards (CFSY) neighborhoods need a healthier community to call home.  Building Hope in the City (BHITC) senses God’s call to help make that so, which is why the organization is deepening its focus on housing and community development in CFSY. The enclosed document describes its strategy and plans.

In late June, BHITC will dedicate the completion of its third renovated home. The goal is to raise $35,000 dollars for continued work in this neighborhood. Your donation will be put towards these initiatives, among many others:

Hello, 5700 Storer Avenue! The next renovation project is on deck and ready to get started! This small, single family residence, located at 5700 Storer Avenue in Stockyards, will be transformed into a needed safe and supportive home. BHITC’s intent is to rent the property to a refugee or immigrant family from The Hope Center!

Rally Together for Transformation  Rally CLE (Saturday, September 21) is a part of BHITC’s effort to mobilize the Body of Christ and activate the potential of residents to transform their community. Rally CLE will unite CFSY neighbors around the ideas they have for improving their community. Whether it’s creating a community garden, installing a public art piece, or renovating a community space, residents will seek to transform their community with projects that will be funded by small grants (up to $2,000 per project) provided by BHITC.

A New Focus of Tutoring and School Enrichment BHITC’s flagship youth educational programs are being embraced in new ways in CFSY! The organization is working in partnership now with elementary schools in CFSY to take BHITC’s know-how into public schools to support students in need of additional support, starting this fall semester. A large number of daytime volunteers will be needed to make this possible. If you’re a college student, work from home with a flexible schedule or a retiree, BHITC would love to have you join this growing team!

Your support of these efforts this summer will help BHITC demonstrate that Jesus is Lord of our city, giving residents of CFSY a taste of His goodness. Thank you in advance for sharing in this important witness!

Give to this effort!
