Housing & Community Development

Investing in resident leaders and providing good, affordable, supportive housing (a home) can change a life, a family, a block and a whole community.

Why?

Just as Jesus embodied God’s love towards those on the fringes of society, we have chosen to journey with Jesus into relationships with those people and places that have been overlooked and underestimated in our city.

The Spirit led us deep into Clark-Fulton and Stockyards (CFSY), the most culturally and radically diverse community on the west side, where we are holistically addressing housing alongside residents.

Where?

The challenges and opportunities facing the CFSY neighborhoods are multifaceted and so is our approach.

Deteriorating housing, crime, addiction, poverty and unemployment must all be addressed. Still, there is reason for hope. If we peer a bit deeper beneath the surface narratives of brokenness in city neighborhoods, we'll see the work of God shining through residents, churches and community organizations who care for the common good. Our role as the body of Christ is to hold both the hopes and the needs together as we collaborate with our neighbors to advance the good in CFSY.

Our Approach

Instead of swooping in to save the day, community development from a Christian perspective is an approach that honors marginalized people as active participants in community renewal.

To that end, our approach champions residents and community stakeholders as the key partners in our work to uplifting, strengthening and renewing our community...together.

Our holistic efforts include affordable housing, education enrichment, resident leader development, and active collaboration with local faith communities and key neighborhood organizations.

What is Rally CLE?

Rally CLE exists to unite and engage residents around the ideas they have for improving their communities by supporting projects & grassroots programs that promote connection, equity, and grassroots leadership.

Building Hope in the City supports residents in the Clark-Fulton, Stockyards and Brooklyn Centre communities through small grants (up to $2,000 per project of program), project planning support, neighbor engagement assistance, as well as volunteer and/or professional support needed for resident-led projects to succeed.

“Rally CLE allows for the opportunity to listen to a resident leader and then surround them with resources and support. And what a great way to reconcile them to their own purpose and dignity and let them know that they matter.”
